Trout

- also known as Salmon Trout or Rainbow Trout

 

AquaPri has been farming trout for more than 60 years and is one of the largest trout farmers in Denmark. We have 16 land based farms and 6 sea cage sites and are farming approx. 6,000 tons / year.

The trouts are hatched at our inland hatcheries, where they spend the first months of their lives. The controlled environment of these farms gives us the opportunity to ensure the very best conditions for their on-growing. When they are about two years old, most of the trout are transported to our sea farms in the clean coastal waters of Denmark.

Here they spend another 7-8 months, until they have reached just the right condition for harvesting. Large well boats carefully transport them live to our own processing site in the town of Aarøsund near the German border.

Our processing plant has approval number DK4731. We process and pack our trout in accordance with our strict quality and food safety schemes, to ensure the highest product standards. We base our production on HACCP principles and are regularly controlled by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.

We harvest the majority of our trout in November and December each year.

Fresh trout
We can offer fresh trout to our worldwide customers in November and December each year. The sizes are 1-2 kg, 2-3 kg and 3-4 kg and are all packed in our own packing station DK4731.

Frozen trout
During processing we send a large part of our trout for freezing and coldstorage in Denmark. We produce both head-off and head-on frozen trout. We export frozen trout worldwide.  AquaPri has a close collaboration with the coldstorage companies to ensure that they follow the same strict food safety and quality standards as AquaPri. It is of highest importance to AquaPri that our valued customers can always trust that they get the highest product standard from AquaPri.

Trout fillets
Trout fillets can be produced to order. Filleting will take place in November and December where we have the majority of fresh trout ready for harvest. We can customize this product and cut and pack it exactly as you require.

The trout is originally from North America but has been farmed in Denmark for more than 100 years. The trout is today being farmed in many places worldwide and Denmark is among the 10 largest trout producing countries in the world. Denmark is yearly farming approx. 30 mt of fresh water trout and app. 15 mt of seafarmed trout. The fresh water trout is mainly portion size for the European market. The seafarmed trout is from 1-4 kg.
